Arrow Does RIM have Patent Approved for Spellcheck yet? - 01-07-2007, 08:28 PM

Hi Everyone,

Several months ago on one of the BB websites/blogs, recall reading that RIM had a patent pending for Spellcheck.

Does anyone know what the status is of this patent?

Currently have a BB 7130e, and Bell Mobility is my carrier. BM does not support third party apps., so am very anxious to hear the latest info on this patent.

Thanks.

I can't help you on the patent info but I wouldn't be concerned that Bell Mobility doesn't support 3rd party apps. With a few exceptions none of the carriers do.

I have all sorts of third party apps on my Bell BB and I have had no problems. All it means is you have to go to the third party supplier for tech support if needed.

Bell could not care less if you install third party stuff.

use bbcorrector... the new version on this website.. it is free and uses google for spell check. It is the best application for the blackberry hands down.

Default Spellcheckers - 01-09-2007, 04:49 AM

I use: bbSpell the Spell Checker for Blackberry There is a free version with advertizing or a pay version without.

There is also eSpell by DynoPlex,Inc. is a leading developer of wireless document management solutions for handheld devices and enterprise grade productivity applications for RIM Blackberry. ;pay and bbCorrector free.

There may be others I am not aware of.
