Default Message icon, yet no messages anywhere

Please Login to Remove!

For a while now, I've had an Unopenned Message icon on my VZW 7130e (the miniature envelope icon with a 1 next to it, generally at the top left of the screen depending on the theme). I have gone through the entire laundry list of programs that it could possibly be and cannot find a message connected to the icon.

There are:
  • No unopenned SMS messages
  • No unopenned VZW emails
  • No unopenned GMail emails
  • No items in the general message (txt, call) log
  • No web pages downloaded in the background
I am currently using the latest 7130e firmware (Sprint), but this phantom message also appears with the official VZW firmware. It is not theme-dependant.

Any suggestions on where to look or how to rid myself of this pointless message icon would be most appreciated. Thanks for your help!

Did you check the missed calls or the saved messages folder? The saved messages folder is usually the culprit. From the main "Messages" folder click the wheel and select "view folder." Then select "saved messages" or any other ones you think it could be.

Snap! I have a Saved Messages Folder?

Thanks for the tip, that's where the offending message was. How it got there is beyond me (I must have accidently clicked the scroll wheel), but it's gone now.
