Hi everyone. My 8700g on T-Mobile came with OS 4.1.0.284 pre-installed. I want to upgrade to the newer version, but it has happened once or twice in the past that I've had problems with an upgrade, and needed to roll back the OS. However, the 4.1.0.284 OS is not included on the CD-ROM that was included with my BlackBerry. And, of course, T-Mobile's download link only offers 4.1.0.346.

So, can anyone provide me with a link to download 4.1.0.284 so I'll have a backup copy, just in case?

EDIT: Well, I searched the forums, found a topic or 2, followed links in them, still no luck.

Is there a site that specializes in archiving the old OSes? I really need to find a backup copy, just in case, since there are apparently some issues with 4.1.0.346 and since it seems T-Mobile and RIM want to take their sweet time on launching OS 4.2 for the 8700g.

Sorry, that is the link that is provided by Jibi in his edited .alx thread. TMobile has had problems with their site for the last couple of weeks where it gives a message about the site having too many concurrent users. My guess is that is why it's not working. Hopefully TMobile will get their site fixed soon.

Bharti offers the .284. Select the 8700 out of the list and it's a couple of updates down. Here is the link....

As for that problem on T-Mobile's website, I'm not sure that's it. That problem goes away if you refresh the page a few times... and then you see that they still only have 4.1.0.346 up. They haven't even put up the 4.2 Desktop Manager for 8700g users. I got that directly from RIM on their website.My question about getting it from Bharti is simply this: Will it be IDENTICAL to the version from T-Mobile, or will it put in weird carrier branding and/or settings?

I know zip about versions from Bharti, so that's why I ask.

It's the same OS. You'd probably have to delete the vendor.xml file in order to use it, but that means nothing. There is no carrier branding in the OS other than the vendor.xml.

The link in Jibi's thread goes to a different page than the main tmobile upgrade site. I've downloaded older OS versions, not in the main update page, from Jibi's links in the past and the links always worked fine. I suppose they could have taken them down but I'm guessing it has to do with their "issues."

You are worrying about this way too much. .284 is .284.
