Default OS4 7290 and the Internet

Please Login to Remove!

Since updating to version 4.0 of the BlackBerry Os I can not connect to the internet with a 7290 on the Cingular network. What values and where under the options are needing attention to make this connection work?

As it is now, when I select the internet connection icon, my BB is locked up and I have to power down and restart to regain use of the unit.

Iíve seen post referring to having Cingular add certain things to my account. Is this the answer to the problem?

TIA

Default Internet access

Thanks for the pointer Teresa. I followed instructions by adding the 10mb Data Connect Feature and internet access was restored. This feature has an cost associated with it. I called the Cingular BB Product Mgmt Rep at (+1-866-490-2666) and explained the situation. She said I did not need any of the data connect features for internet access. The only thing required as she explained was the BB 4MB ADD ON feature that I already had. She also said that for connecting to the internet in an non-corporate environment that none of the settings found at Options > TCP needed to be set.

At this point she had me reconnect the BB to the Desktop Manager and reload everything in the OS upgrade via the Application Loader. Once this was complete and the unit restarted, she resent the service books which I had tried many times before and the unit connected with the Cingular browser instantly. This was also done after she removed the 10mb Data Connect feature from my account.

I asked the customer service rep how long Cingular had been supporting the 4.0 OS upgrade and her response was for a month. When asked if the upgrade had been smooth for everyone her response was not for everyone which makes me wonder if the entire internet access issue is related to the OS software upgrade and not a problem with Cingular.

Thanks again to the providers of this forum. The key to fixing this issue was found in the thread you pointed me to which included the BB support division of Cingular. This is the only place at Cingular for help with these types of issues. Local stores and normal tech support is clueless when it comes to the Blackberry.
