Does anyone know if there are any plans to have Arabic language support in the near future?

Thanks,

reading is possible on some roms. writing is possible on beta roms for 8700 that were not made public. i tested a beta device(8700) that i got from RIM and it worked fine. i am not aware of any publicly avalable ROM the fully support arabic

Thumbs up I found a way to READ arabic/hebrew on the BB - 08-07-2007, 11:21 PM

Here is a way, i tried it on my 8830 and it works
download attached ZIP file
1. Extract the two files to known directory I recommend C:\
2. Connect BB to the computer via USB
3. On the computer get to the command prompt, if you have XP click on start run and type cmd hit enter
4. Type javaloader -u load <Pathfilename>

Your BB will reboot once or twice don't panic, you can read Arabic and Hebrew emails, webpages, SMS ... etc.

It took me an entire day to figure this out, with the help of other posters here and there. I know some of you might not care but this is important for anyone who would like to read in their native language.

the answer is no, i dont't think BB supports typing in Arabic unless you get an On Screen Keyboard, and I don't know how to do that

Question Plzz Help - 08-28-2007, 03:07 PM

Gents,

I have BB 8800 and I’m desperate to add the Arabic reading support! I’m not sure if the above steps will work on 8800?? I even took the risk and tried it but it didn’t work as I got the error message (javaloader is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file) I think I didn’t know how to write the command?? Not familiar with command prompt here!!!

Plz let me know how if anyone got this batch working on 8800 and how do I write the command?

P.S. This is how i wrote the command: (javaloader -u load C:\net_rim_font_semtic

Thanks

that is very wrong....
type javaloader -u load <filename> put files in the same folder as the javaloader. (you do have the javaloader.exe file, right) (sorry, had to ask).

Talking here is an easier way - 08-28-2007, 08:09 PM

I have attached a new file for Hebrew or Arabic support. Just unzip the attached file to your desktop and use the DesktopManager app loader function. This enables you to chose arabic as a langauge under options. Sorry I am not able to upload the file to this forum as it exceeds my limit, here is a link to where I have it posted http://www.angelfire.com/falcon/gt5l/Arabic.zip Do not click on the link, right click and save target as zip file on your computer
