Purchased new many eons ago via Earthlink, my 957 has behaved great until (I think) I did a clean reinstall of XP to get it to SP2…I had to reload the RIM software from the CD (2.1, as I recall). I have since been able to receive, but not send….it gets an X whenever I attempt to send (don’t recall if I can respond, though).

I am guessing it is a decryption hiccup, per my browsing of the Blackberry web site. I am running the simple Desktop Manager, not a BES.

Can someone direct this noob to directions on how best to resolve this? Clean install with original software? Generate a new encryption key?

The first thing I'd try is to regenerate the encryption keys.

Going from memory here... I think you start Desktop Manager, then Redirector Settings or Security - I have a new version of DM and the settings are different. But somewhere you have to generate a new key.
