Question unable to synch with account-help

I have recently purchased a Blackberry 8703e and am trying to learn all the features. However, I have been unsuccessful in getting my account to sync with the Blackberry. When I go to the Blackberry site for Verizon users, I get a message saying that it was unsuccessful and to check your username and password. I used the portion of my email address before the "@" for my username and my normal password. Will sync with my Blackberry? Any thoughts or suggestions are greatly appreciated.
