Default Installing individual alx file

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,
Is it possible to send an individual .alx file to a Blackberry through Desktop Manager without updating everything else the Wizard checks and installs?

Here at work, we use a BES (with content protection) and it's causing browser problems. Both Blackberry Browser and Internet Browser suddenly quit responding when clicked. Problem especially on 7100's (majority uses this model)

The fix seems to be installing appdownload.alx to get the browsers working again.

Problem is, if the entire OS is reloaded, it kicks the user off the BES. Say I have a 7100i running 4.1.0.136, and I have 4.1.0.376 installed on my computer. When I run desktop manager, it wants to update everything to 4.1.0.376 while it's installing appdownload.alx.

Is there a way to ONLY install appdownload.alx? Seems like it would be simple!

Thanks!

I'm new to BB but what happens if you attach the alx file in an email and send it to yourself. When you click the attachment from email on your device, will it just execute ?

Thanks.. but no luck. Looks like the only way I can do it is by uninstalling 4.1 before running desktop manager. What a pain!
