This question is specifically for the Corporate Environment who relies on a centrally distributed method for installing applications. What typically happens is we create a software package/image of whatever application we are distributing and then assign our networked users access rights to that package. It then grabs it from the file server and installs locally on their desktop.

Our Network environment is Novell Netware so we use the SUSE application (AOT) package. We haven't been able to create an install package of Desktop Manager 4.2. The package actually creates and installs properly but the USB driver for 8100 and 8800 devices does not install for some reason! Does anyone have any ideas?

If it helps, I know they aren't "Signed" - you get that warning when you install them in XP - I wouldn't doubt, that is the start of the trouble...

We had issues with this if the Blackberry was connected to the computer when the software was deployed.

We just put a message to unplug your BB before installing at the beginning of the software package.

^ I've been 50/50 with this issue now. SOMETIMES it works, SOMETIMES it doesn't. What I did find is if you power off the unit, while tethered, remove the battery and then reinsert, it will detect it as a RIM device and install drivers. However, like I said, it works SOMETIMES.

I just WISH the actual 4.2 USB driver was extractable or identified within the DTM 4.2 CD. You know, that way you can force the driver to "update" if you go through Control Panel, System, Device Manager, USB Device.
