Anyone know how to tell if it's been changed?

The best way is to integrate a yahoo email account on the BIS. If you get 2-way sync (read/unread) then the BIS has been upgraded. I checked VZW today and it only syncs one-way: BB to yahoo.

Haven't heard of any carrier who has made the change and I understand RIM won't be offering BIS 2.3 until late April.

When it is ready, your carrier will automatically integrate it as they did with 2.0

Perhaps I wasn't clear in my question: Is there any explicit way of knowing what BIS version a carrier is using?

Well, not necessarily. Several carriers waited a while to upgrade to 2.0. of course, that was a major upgrade and I'm sure 2.3 isn't as big a deal as 2.0 was. But it isn't necessarily a foregone conclusion that carriers will "automatically" (read immediately) upgrade.

Agreed. I was referring to when the carriers were ready. I believe 2.3 allows you to accept and invite appointments which is a feature I would like to have.

BIS 2.3 supports iCal and vCard. I'm not sure OS 4.1.x supports them on the BB, only OS 4.2.x - anyone know for sure?

I'm not so sure about that. I'm on Verizon and when I delete gmail on my BB it gets deleted on gmail. BIS 2.3 also supports iCal. Try creating an event on your Gmail calender and invite your BB email address. See if you can accept it. Or if you have a Yahoo email account try to add it to your T-Mo BIS account. Then send an email to the Yahoo account, login online to Yahoo mail, then read/delete it. It would update the BB message status (2-way reconcilation). If it works, you are indeed on BIS 2.3

Hey guys - I have my yahoo.com e-mail address linked on my T-Mobile 8700g. The receive & send is real-time - just like the tmo.blackberry.net address. I am pretty sure T-Mobile has the latest BIS. In fact, I didn't have it linked until I heard the news a few days back from another BB site that they were switching over and I gave yahoo.com a try and it was online nearly instant.

I have BIS with Cingular Blue (old ATT). I followed your instructions with my yahoo account already setup with BIS. I email my yahoo account from another email and it also went to the BB. Then i logged in to Yahoo mail on my pc and read the email. The BB still showed a new message. So it did not update. Then i deleted the email on Yahoo and it was still on my BB as a new message.

btw, the other way works. that is if i had read/deleted the message on my bb, it would have updated on yahoo

Your test suggests BIS 2.3 is not yet implemented.

The current BIS 2.x release included Yahoo real-time email delivery like Gmail. Try my test posted previously to see if the read/unread/delete works from the Yahoo online to your BB.

According to the boy genius report, AT&T implemented BIS2.3 this weekend. Unfortunately, I don't think this is correct because 2 way sync on yahoo doesn't work for me....

Well, to be fair, there was never an announcement of deployment.
