Default Enterprise Server setup problems

My IT guys are trying to setup my Blackberry 8100 on my Microsoft Exchange small business server and keep getting the following message "Failed to open the default message store using the MAPI profile on blackberry manager. Please review the log for details". Does anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem could be and how to fix it. Also I see that it is not recommended to load the BES onto an exchange server, how should this be done, direct onto my personal pc which is linked to the exchange server?

Any help would be appreciated as if I cant fix this then the Blackberry will have to go back.
