Default Desktop s/w on secondary PC for backup?

Please Login to Remove!

I never did install the desktop software on my main PC at the advise of my company's IT department, which said that it does nothing but cause problems.

We have a BES and Microsoft Outlook Exchange.

Obviously the vast majority of the data on my BB is backed up on our email servers. But I would like to be able to backup (my contacts mostly) onto a secondary computer because this would be useful to me.

Would installing the Desktop software enable me to do this? If so, would they be saved as an unreadable datafile, or can I use the Desktop software to open up my contacts while on this other PC?

Default

Well you can back them up but not restore them due to OTA sync to your BES.

This note is at the bottom of the advanced backup in desktop manger.
Quote:
Databases that are unavailable in the list have been configured for wireless synchronization or wireless backup and are read-only. You cannot restore or clear them
