Red face Intellisync PIM Configure Issues for MS Outlook

Please Login to Remove!

I at one time had my 7520 working fine.... but after some freezing issues and me trying to change my PIM Configuration for Address Book.. it went all south! (at end of email see my Symptons list of things that were malfunctioning before I ran into this problem).

When I try to configure ANY of my PIMS for MS Outlook... it won't let me click on the Browse Button... The Folder Name is greyed out and the Browse doesn't function... All the other PIMs application choices work (Act, Lotus, etc..)

At first this was isolated on just my Address Book.. but now it is the same for Calendar, Tasks, etc..

Can someone help?

I have done the following:
>Wiped BB
>Re-installed Desktop 4.0 (several times)
>Installed the new Service Pack (a few times)
>Uninstalled and Reinstalled DT4.0
>Went into Application Data and trashed my preference files for Intellisync

So I am at a lost!

Other Info:
Symptoms: BB Froze... Message Buffer Overflow errors... only remedied by turning off for about 15 minutes and turning back on a few times. Then it would miraculously heal (i have like 6500 contacts on my BB)

Oh... one more thing... another friend got a 7100g and his Desktop Manager allows him to have more then one MS Contact folder .. whereas I can only access one

If you are using a corporate BES, try creating a new (MAPI) profile in your mail settings (control panel > mail). Then point your redirector to the new profile.

As we should probably all be aware, Blackberrys can be entirely RANDOM. Sometimes the fixes are mysterious. I had a similar problem this morning with a user's PIM settings. We gave the user a new device and the PIM became accessible, then gave them back their old device. All works ok now.

It seems that forcing a new device and new PIN through the system seems to dislodge something. Sorry I can't be any more specific than that, but our fixes happen more by luck than judgement (when we have exhausted the blackberry.com knowledgebase articles first of course).

Default PIM Issues

My configuration is not BES... just a redirector account.

The main problem I have is that I cannot configure my Outlook settings on the PIM Config dialog box.

i agree 6500 contacts is a lot. surprisingly it handles it pretty good...

In your user profile folder in windows there is a bunch of hidden folders. Get rid of this folder...

C:\Documents and Settings\<profilename>\Application Data\Research In Motion\BlackBerry\Intellisync

This should create a new profile for you when you sync the next time, which in turn should give you a fresh complete sync of your contacts. There is also a place where you can specify to sync additional folders for more contacts.

cd.
