I'm having a bit of weird issue with BB Desktop and Outlook calendar sync.

First for the various software:

- BB Desktop Manager 4.2.2.12 (mar 19 2007)
- Outlook 2002 (with an Exchange back end)
- BB 8830 V4.2.2.66 (platform 3.0.0.45)

My problem is that the sync wants to always "add" the calendar items. This makes sense the 1st time that I sync, but after that I would think it would do nothing for existing items (that have not changed) to update them if there was a change to an item.

I only really care because I'm going to be switching from a USB to bluetooth sync. It's not an issue now as I'm sitting at my desk when I plug the USB in. When I got BT however, I could be a distance from my office and the BB won't finish the sync until I click the "OK" on my PC.

Anyone have a similar issue or a way to resolve this?

I notice this too. Can't BBD just sync and stop asking me to confirm to add this or remove that just like ActiveSync for Windows or Hotsync for Palm?

Yes, it can, but you probably have DM Sync set to notify you of conflict. Look in your DM Synchronize settings.

The problem (at least for me) is it just does not work "logically". First (and foremost) there should not be any conflicts. I only add calendar items via Outlook.

I did try the various conflict resolution options before posting. The one that seems most obvious is "outlook wins". Even with this setting it still prompts me about the add's. The only option that will cause the dialog to go away is "add all conflicting items".

Yes, I understand, but it's a kluge IMHO. I'd really like to understand why it thinks there is a conflict in the first place but I guess that is a question for RIM and the Intellisync folks.

The conflict is that the entry does appear in your Outlook, and not in your BB.

I respectfully disagree. The same entries show up ever time I sync. I can click on the "details" see the appointments and they are on the BB.

Oh, I misunderstood you then. Does the sync duplicate the entries on the BB? Or just want to add them again?

It just appears to overwrite the entry ever time I sync. They are not getting duplicated. I've looked in the log also and it's not much use.

I think I'll just have to settle for the fact that it does not quite work right and live with it

It's not like there were not a bunch of things that "did not work quite right" on my old PPC. I just have to get used to the new ones.

Thank you. I checked under Advanced Settings for each category (calendar, tasks...) and unselected Confirm.

I keep mine set to notify me, I would rather take the 10 seconds to check them because I do enter new/updated data in both the BB and my Outlook. Sometimes, rarely, I have had to tell the Sync to use the other data as the correct data.

I feel your pain. Mine does the same thing.

It's a small inconvence compared to all the other things that could be going wrong. I just wonder if over time as the calendar conflict screen come up - if the number will continue to grow (now 30 to 50 to 100, etc)

I've just learned to live with it. I have a similar issue with bluetooth (I have a BT connection setup between my PC and the BB). Ever time I come back to the PC I have to click a small dialog to allow the PC to connect to BB. Can't find any setting to just "accept" this all the time.
