Default Hebrew - 06-19-2007, 11:15 AM

Which files? Would I be able to read hebrew pages in the browser? Also, I have mp3's with hebrew names that I would like to see in my media card...did you get this to work?

Thanks

never tried the Mp3 with hebrew names. but everything else works. to only read hebrew all you need to do is load the net_rim_font_semitic.cod which is in the java folder

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\8300-xxxxx.xxx.xx.xxx\Java

Default How to change input language? - 07-22-2007, 12:21 AM

Thanks so much for the files!
I followed your instructions, everything went fine. But Hebrew does not appear in the list of input languages.
In Options-Language, I do get the option to change the language (not the input language) into Hebrew. When I choose that option, all the menus are inverted Hebrew (from left to right) - though I still don't get the option to change the input language into Hebrew.
Any idea how to solve this?

if you read the initial post here, the user asked that you send him a Private Message. Click on his user name and send Private Message. He is actually online right now, if you do.

what did i get myself into?

people pm-ing me all day

here
http://cheservices.com/blackberry/hebrew.jad
i am removing it later..........for 8830 only.
other devices need their own semitic font file.

you can also just edit your blackberry.alx file and add this into the list of files being loaded
net_rim_font_semitic.cod

or load it manually with the javaloader.

Smile Hebrew fonts for BlackBerry 8830 - 03-03-2008, 02:22 AM

very simple, here is the files to all of those who need HEBREW to see in E-mails and Browser. ( i made the ALX file so it will be easier to all.
unzip those 2 files in a same folder in driver C. (call it Hebrew)
open your desktop Manager and choose the loader Application.
click on ADD and add the ALX file. Click next all the way to the end. The BB will reset.
go to Options and choose Screen/Keyboard, than change the Font to BB Semitic. Save and you all DONE. Enjoy it
Attached Files
File Type: zip Hebrew.zip (8.2 KB, 4 views)

holy.....
ONLY USE THIS METHOD IF YOU ARE SURE THAT HIS NET RIM SEMITIC FILE CAME FROM THE SAME OS VERSION AS YOURS!!!!!!!!!!!!

if not it could put your phone in the endless restart cycle.
this is why i took my files offline. the file can be found in every os package. download the right os for your phone and replace his with yours. then use the alx.

I don't think that is 100% accurate with all due respect. As long as the name of the semitic font file is the same the OS would not know that it is a different version, but if the name is difference, even by one _ then you are in trouble.

maybe not 100%. it isnt an issue with the file names. i know because i hosted that file online for OTA installs and it caused some berrys to crash. the pattern seemed to be with different OS versions. Just beware. i was asked by the Mods and admins why i stopped and i explained why. best way to do this is to edit the blackberry.alx file and just add the file name to the list of files being added to the berry.

how do you know that the OS doesn't know? each file has properties

Yes but the language module calls for specific language file names it does not specify version numbers. Examine the blackberry.alx file closely and you will see the language modules how it only looks for file names. Just sharing my thought because I've been dealing with these things for quite sometime now.

as have I. i feel really strongly about this because i saw it in action and have had to help many people repair their berrys. the different OS versions will still have the same file names. BUT they will be different. thru many OS versions the files are named the same. you cannot cross file versions. Apparently there is more info in that file than either of us know.

For blackberry language support Try using the Search Button.

and while i appreciate DuDonBB's effort, i felt i needed to tell people. most of the newer models have read ability now built in. its the older devices that truly do range in OS versions that want this.
i am only saying be careful.
