Default Blackberry software without BB Service

Please Login to Remove!

Hi! I just take Blackberry Pearl.

I'm from Russia and there is no cell-operator with supporting of blackberry service.

I used search but i can't find anytopic by subj problem.

There is some idea to use Blackberry browser and e-mail software w/o blackberry service? I'm using Opera - it's all okey, but i wanna to use blackberry browser. (for example - from Opera i can't go at mobile.blackberry.com).

In way if i can't use this applications i'm searching applications for e-mail.

And last question - does BB Pearl support MMS messages?

Thanks a lot.

You can not use the BlackBerry Browser without having the BlackBerry Data Plan.

You MUST have the BB Data Plan for email, internet browser, data, and MMS.

I believe you can install the GMail application with Desktop Manager and get your gmail that way. Results may vary with this method, though.

More one question. I which way browser and MMS will work? What it need?
I understand that BB Data plan is needed. But maybe my operator can send me something? service message or something else?

I can't install Gmail app cos my browser doesn't work. Opera mini can't download that software...

Hey compatriot,
there is no way for real OTA downloads with Opera so you have to find jar/jad files and install them manually. I was in St.-Petersburg few weeks ago and had no problems with Opera at all but haven't tried MMS though. Try GMail application Blackberry Blast!:: Gmail Mobile for Blackberry Released but I'd recommend you just use Opera..
There is no any kind of support for BB's from MTS, Megafon of BeeLine and you even can't use all settings for GPRS from their web sites except APN name which is enough for Opera. If MMS APN is different from internet access APN you won't be able to send MMS.
Actually I wonder how many people in the sity have BB's at all)) I will bring one Pearl for sale since it is just sitting on my table right now with no use...
PM me if you have questions and prefer Russian for communication

The built in services in the blackberry will not work without purchasing a blackberry plan.

The web browser and e-mail will not work.

You can still use PDA functions to download your contacts from Outlook or Lotus Notes, sync calendar and notes as well. You can send SMS and make telephone calls as well.

I too was looking for a "stand-alone" version of the gmail mini app that I could install with the application loader. Even the idiots at google refused my request!!! But a kind user here at BBforums helped me out. Check out this thread for the files and info that you need:

WANTED: link to free GMAIL app for BB7520

As long as your blackberry doesn't have a restrictive IT policy and uses the built in transport (and not MDS) it should work. There's a post somewhere (maybe not even on this forum) regarding a way to force the BB on most occasions to use the built in transport. My BB still needs some work before I can get everything up and running. I'm still learning about this stuff
