I Followed the following steps:

1. You uninstalled all IM apps and wiped your service books from the device.
2. You restored the above-listed service books.
3. You connected to Application Loader and installed only the apps in the first .zip file.
4. Device reboots.
5. You connected your device via the AppLoader again and installed the set of apps in the second .zip file.
6. Device reboots again.
7. Your IM apps work.

I went back and did this

8. Re Install My Old Service Books

9. Registered Handset

Everything work like a charm. Except my AIM...That sucks... There is another draw back also..

When I download and installed the new yahoo version 2.0 from the Blackberry Tzones page I loose all my new MSN, AIM, ICQ, etc Icons from my phone.

If anyone have any luck updating to Yahoo 2.0 Post what you did

I went to the site blackberry.com/aim and downloaded and installed with no problems. I didn't have to resend any service books or uninstall anything. Been waiting for AIM on this for the longest time, probably over 5 months since I got my BB 8800. Finally singed on and no problem, but of course no one online once I signed on

I was VERY hesitant about messing with service books. These instructions were great.

I loaded the new app, than loaded the service book, and then re-registered from Host Routing Table. It was very easy and I am VERY happy.

Thanks everyone!

Does anyone know if Rim is going to release a new version of the AIM application? They just released new versions of Gtalk and Yahoo, so it seems it could only be next, they have to get rid of that mobile limitation. Who only has 30 buddies now days?

That'd be nice ... wouldn't make much difference to me, though. =P

It didn't work for me. I'm on Vodafone, Spain and it just... didn't work :( WML didn't log in, giving me some excuse of a Network Error. Any ideas? I Followed these instructions originally posted by tzar:

Delete all those and install BeeJiveIM. Everything is contained in one app and it always works. $29 well spent.

Exclamation 05-15-2009, 02:35 AM

Just thought I'd mention that ever since I upgraded to the 8900 Curve back on February 11th, I'm FINALLY able to use the official RIM AIM client!

So, apparently, the ONLY way you can use the official RIM client for AIM on T-Mobile is if it's PRE-INSTALLED with your OS. If your T-Mobile BlackBerry doesn't already have the RIM AIM installed via the newest OS available for it, don't bother trying to download the client, because it won't do you any good.

Ironically, now that I have the official client and can use it, none of my friends even use AIM anymore.

Beejive - instant messaging anywhere
Agree but the latest version for OS 4_6 (bold) is a hugh drain on the battery. I stopped using Beejive for a few months and just used the RIM aim and Google talk apps. But the latest version really zaps my battery...... usually get 2-3 days but need to charge daily. Hope they get this fixed.

You can't have these connected all the time and not expect some battery drain.

Yea you're right. Would be nice if RIM developed an all-in-one app to include BBM.

Exclamation Error with version 2.5.27 - 10-27-2009, 04:11 AM

A couple days ago, I saw the newest version of the AIM client on BlackBerry App World, downloaded it, and installed it. This would be Version 2.5.27.

I've been using it just fine for the last couple days. And then, in the last hour or so, it's started refusing to let me sign-in!

This is the error message it gives me:
Quote:
Unexpected Error: Sign-in again if you are signed out due to this error. (100)
It doesn't matter how many times I try to reconnect, I still get that same error.

I've tried reboots (both the soft and hard varieties) but to no avail. Anyone have any clue about what might be going on?

EDIT: I just tried something out, and have discovered something curious. This is only affecting my primary AIM screen name. I have a couple other secondary screen names, and I just tried one of the others. I was able to log-in just fine. But the primary one still gives me the error. Weird.
