OTA is http://www.blackberry.com/aim but trying it on AT&T gives you a message that "Your Provider does not allow access to AIM".

I was able to download it last month from here but it did not work since AT&T did not provide the service book for it. But then someone posted the service books for AIM and I was able to add those through DM. It worked fine. Now I have changed BBs and without that link working, is there anyway to get the actual program? Since the service books can be added manually, I just need to get the program. .cod file?

I have a 7520 and it works great. It's very similar if not exact to BB Messenger.

Any way someone can post a backup of the application here?

One way to get the file off is to use the "switch device wizard" which will put a copy of all of the OTA ALX/COD files you've downloaded in a temp folder... go into the wizard, get past the part where it backs up your device, then look for a folder named with your PIN.

Go here from your BB.

http://www.blackberry.com/devicesoft...ry.do?code=aim

It wont allow you to download it if your carrier does not support it.

Okay, one issue; the service books from jibi's post seem to be old. Here is the info contained within:

Quote:
Record Type: Active
Name: Wireless Village - AIM
UID: EVALAOL
CID: SMP
User ID: -1
DSID: (Blank)
Gateway IP: //206.51.26.192:19791;19790/blackberry.net|GPAK
Description: RIM SMP
Can someone upload the .ipd file with just the new AIM service book from Sprint/Nextel?

I agree that I'd like to try RIM's AIM app on AT&T. If anyone has any ideas how to get it to work, I'd love to know!

Alright - who has the solution for AIM with Verizon? I used the Service Book from BG from another thread, I downloaded the AIM ACX/COD files - everything installs great, but all I get is AOL saying it's connecting. So close but so faaaaaaaaaaar................

And that's what everyone used to say 2-3 years ago about VeriChat, too. And yet, when I tried it on my Nextel , it could NEVER log me into AIM, not once! It worked fine for Yahoo IM, but it was never able to log me into AIM, there was some problem with it, a problem that was still there through several new versions of the software that I also tried, so I uninstalled it and gave up on it. Luckily I never went beyond the free trial on VeriChat, so at least it didn't cost me anything to find out that it was worthless.

I later d/led and installed the official RIM YIM client, first on my Nextel BB, and then later on my current T-Mo 8700g. It works with no problem, which tells me that the RIM AIM client should, as well.

So, anyone get it working with T-Mobile yet?

Did you try JiveTalk? It does have a 30 day trial. I never tried Verichat so I can't speak for that one.

I'd be interested to hear if there's any update on this SW for AT&T, but Yak-
On is pretty nice (tabbed chatting, etc.). It will do some reconnection upon loss of connection, but it appears that there are many times where it could reconnect, yet does not.

I used verichat so I can tell you that Jivetalk is leaps and bounds better than verichat. I havent had one login issue on any of the current messengers. Works everytime and stays logged in.

Thumbs up RIM AIM is on T-Mo BB 8320! - 09-25-2007, 03:43 PM

So, yesterday, I stopped in at a corporate-owned T▪ ▪ ▪Mobile▪ store to see if the BB 8320 "Curve" was out yet. It IS, and I can confirm that it DOES have the official RIM AIM client pre-installed on it, along with RIM's MSN client.

The big question now is this: How soon will T-Mo start letting the rest of us use the official client?

I probably COULD upgrade to the 8320, but IF I do, it won't be until the end of the year or early next year, because I started my contract with the 8700g in December '06. So, it's a little too soon for me to qualify for an upgrade right now.

Absolutely YES!, T-Mo actual confirmed that letting the rest of T-mobile BB members use the official client.

I don't need Jivetalk, or other IM client third party programs download on my bb anymore!

Did they indicate WHEN they'll let us use it?!?

Because as of last night, T-Mo still won't let me use it. I go to http://www.blackberry.com/aim from my BB's Browser, and I still get the message telling me that my carrier does not allow me to use the AIM client.

I'm on T-Mo, I *can* download it, but the resulting client isn't able to establish a connection

Ok, confused here. I am on TMO as well with an 8100 and cannot download the AIM off the BB site, yet, some of you above are saying that you can and also have TMO. What's the story here?

Did they update default service books or something lately? I guess I will resend them and see if anything new is sent to me.

The RIM website still complains that my carrier (TMo) won't allow me to download the software for my Curve (8300).
