Default Forcing built-in TCP/IP and bypassing MDS

Please Login to Remove!

O.K. I've been reading through TONS of info on this forum for a few weeks.

I know that most apps can connect through the built in TCP/IP (like opera-mini). I want to avoid having apps connect through MDS. I found some info in this forum (or another) and cannot seem to relocate it) regarding "forcing" most apps to bypass MDS and shoot for built-in TCP/IP. The post said something about removing as many "service books" as possible and then also making sure you have the CORRECT service books.

First, how do I remove service books and also, how do I install new ones?

If I can relocate that info, the author of the post also posted a link to the reuired sevice books.

Can I also back-up the service books that I currently have so that I can restore them if I wish?

Any info you can offer regarding proper device settings for bypassing MDS and shooting for built-in TCP/IP in almost all apps would be appreciated.

I wasn't aware you could do that. I suppose if you removed the Desktop [MDS] service book, it might be possible. I've not tried it.

Here is a quote from the person doing this:

If you dont have a BB plan - dump as many Service Books as possible. On the BB 7520 i have 5 Service Books

WAP transport
WAP Browser
Desktop [CICAL]
Desktop [CMIME]
Blackberry Browser

with so few Service Books, this essentially forces all the 3rd part apps to use native TCP..
Some apps even have a setting that allows you to disable MDS proxy. I'm wondering if a program could be written for the BB that would essentially FORCE all connections through built-in TCP?
