Default Lotus Notes sync problem with Desktop Mng - 07-12-2007, 12:25 AM

I'm running Lotus Notes v.8 (beta), and just got a blackberry (8300) -- using personal BIS only.

My problem is, I can't get Blackberry Desktop Manager (Intellisync) to manually sync using the cable to my Notes calendar, contacts, etc. The "OK" button grays out every time I select "Notes" as a sync option.

According to the Blackberry support site, it probably has something to do with Blackberry Desktop Manager not being able to find the notes.ini file, but I can't figure out how to remap it. I've tried everything on the Blackberry tech site such as this one:

notes.ini problem

Any ideas?

Hi! I have same problem with ND8 just posted Q yesterday called "BDM 4.2.1.8 & ND8 synchro issue", I have talked to the Lotus support guys, they believe that the BDM does not have the relevant inteface yet to communicate/see the new ND8 version. It works with ND7 so far!!

did you get your one working at the end, another way e.g. without BDM?

Default Sync issues with bberry and notes 8 - 08-29-2007, 09:01 AM

A couple of work arounds for now:

export contacts from notes 8 to excel...then import to outlook and choose that as your sync app - may need to remap some fields but nothing major

choose wireless calendar sync

both of above has worked for me

THX, RIM is actually working on a new BDM release that will support ND8, till now I have been doing it by installing the older version i.e. ND7 on laptop, making sure that the notes.ini captured in BDM was the one from ND7, I also created a local connection pointing to my local mail file rather than server. I have had no problem so far! We will see if the new release works OK. THX for all responses!

Default Desktop Manager works - 09-13-2007, 10:58 AM

This worked for me with DM and Lotus Notes 8. Only problem left is ID file import for encrypted messages.
