Default Reflash firmware - 07-26-2007, 09:31 AM

Hi all

If I want to simply reflash the current firmware in a Blackberry, how could I do it? The only time I'm offered the chance to flash is if I have an upgraded software version installed on my PC.

I found this:

What to do next if Jl Cmder will not connect and wipe - BlackBerryFAQ

..but I'm not entirely sure if I can follow this procedure without having the symptoms.

Cheers

Richard

Richard, you simply want to put the same OS you have now, on your BB again?

--Find the OS you desire from your carrier or here

Backup your BB
Use this tool to wipe clean: How do I wipe the BlackBerry using Jl Cmder? - BlackBerryFAQ

Upgrade the OS or reinstall same OS, instructions here:

Good luck.

In a nutshell, yes I'm thinking of times when you get a 507 error on startup, or the Blackberry is behaving oddly, and reinstalling the software can fix the problem.

Edit - sorry JSanders, I didn't see the rest of your post. I'll have a look at those links. Thanks

I edited and added the latter probably after you viewed it.

You can upgrade to the news OS, with no problems.

Question Reflash - 08-18-2007, 01:50 AM

Hello all,
I'm new to this forums and also new to using BB. I have a BB 8800 that I have purchased from Cingular however I'm in Kuwait now and I wanted to format the unit and install the OS the company provide in Kuwait however when I took the phone to the dealer they told me that they can wipe everything and install the OS with the settings required for the kuwait mobile company but there is a chance that the unit will be a (dead set) where during the wipe and os install the phone would die and will not accept anything so I'm worried about this.
Could someone please help me and let me know if what I'm trying to do is possible?? Should I take the phone to the company and have them do their thing with it and risk loosing my phone??
Thank you all
