Default How do I make a downloaded picture be my wallpaper?

Please Login to Remove!

Okay, I've found lots of advice on how to get wallpaper -- just email yourself a picture or get one from the web browser -- but what's the step that will actually tell my BB to make that picture be the wallpaper? I can't seem to find that last step anywhere. It's probably staring me in the face since everyone seems to think it's so intuitive it doesn't need describing, but I'm just not seeing it. Please help me out!

Thanks!

go in to pictures click on a picture that you have saved and select either set as background or set as standby screen

Mine doesn't give me those options. Any ideas why? I got this BB brand new just a week ago -- could it have an old OS?

I dont have that option of saving a pic off an e-mail with my BB either. (Nextel issue??) But I have resized a pic and uploaded it to a 'photobucket' type site. Then retrieved the pic through my browser, save the pic and been able to view it and assign it on my BB.

You need version 4.0 handheld code on the device to be able to save images and apply them as wallpapers as far as I know

I have a Blackberry 7290 with ver4.0 handheld code, I emailed myself a 240x160 picture that I want to set as wallpaper. I can view and save the picture, but for the life of me cannot figure out how to set it as wallpaper. I have no option to set as wallpaper when viewing the pic from my email, and I cant find any option to choose "Pictures" to view it again from the saved file on my BB.

Any insight would be welcome

Make sure the pictures app is installed on your device.

On your home screen you should see an icon that looks like a little portrait or something. That will be the application you need to open up and select which pic you want as a wallpaper. When you save downloaded/emailed pics, that's the app you can use to view them.

Thanks bfrye,

I have no Pictures App installed then, because I see no Icon that looks like a little portrait or says "Pictures" when highlighted. Is there an easy way to install this?

On your app loader. Make sure the pic app is checked.

Thanks coreyg, we are getting closer!

I fired up the Blackberry Desktop Manager then hit Application Loader. It connects, then in Handheld Application Selection it says "No system software was found for your handheld. Contact your system admin.." It says this where I should be checking or unchecking things to load them.

I can click "Add" and look for .alx or .ali files but that is about it :(

Any clues on what is the next step?

**UPDATE**

Ok, reloaded the BB Software from my provider (T-Mobile) I now have check boxes in the App Loader. However, none of them say anything about Picture App. I have no picture app on my home screen either ;/

1. format the picture to 240x160 or slightly smaller
2. email it to yourself
3. open the email open the attachment
4. select full content and select view
5. while viewing the image click wheel and select save it should default to your pictures directory on the blackberry.
6. go back to home and select pictures
7. scroll down to your image and set it as desired (screen saver / wallpaper)

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry7290/4.0.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 UP.Link/1.1)

Is it possible that you have hidden the "Pictures" App on the Home screen? To check this, from the Home Screen, open the Home menu ( <ALT> TrackWheel ) and select the "Show All" option. Then see if you have the "Pictures" App

Hope this helps.
