Default software nightmare - 08-08-2007, 06:35 PM

hello,

after 5 hours with BB support and tmobile support, countless hours trying to figure out the problem myself, researching, etc. I hope someone on this forum can help me.

I have a pearl and all was well until about 6 weeks ago. When synching I get an error message - runtime error! Program Files\Research in motion\Blackberry\DesktopMgr.exe
abnormal program termination

BB support tells me it's a computer problem and they can't do any more.

The software has been uninstalled/reinstalled so many times I lost count. I have followed the instructions on this forum for a clean uninstall but can not delete the file with the trace files. Can't figure out how to do that.
Any thoughts?

Thanks, thanks, thanks, thanks for your time.

Terry

You might want to try a registry cleaner to clean your registry of the RIM software. Also get a good junk file cleaner like ccleaner to get rid of any extra crap that may be screwing with your system. Hope this helps.

Default Thank you - 08-10-2007, 07:35 AM

Thanks for your suggestion.

I have 2 registry cleaners and have used them both. Neither fixed the problem.

Any other thoughts?

Windows update, although im sure its been suggested.
Try another workstation. If it works, then its your computer (as previously stated by tech support).
Also, about some environment details?
You say Vista, theres your issue.

Default runtime error- me too! figured it out, kinda - 08-19-2007, 07:26 AM

twildemann,
I ran into the same problem. I have a BB 7130e. I noticed that when I used "regcure" to help clean up my registry, file associations, shared DLL's etc. I was getting that runtime error. When I "backed up" and un-did the "regcure fix" I no longer got the error message. Now I just have to figure out what it's doing to the BB Desktop Software 'cause I need to use that cleaner badly!
