Exclamation Blackberry Messenger problems on Pearl - 08-14-2007, 02:34 PM

I just got my BlackBerry Pearl last week. I ordered it off of Ebay. The phone was originally issued for T-Mobile service, but is now unlocked and I am using it with SunCom.

I am having serious issues getting my phone to download the BlackBerry Messenger. Has anyone else had this problem before? Or is it, as usual, just me?

The error message I am getting says "Sorry, your wireless Service Provider does not allow access to BlackBerry Messenger for your device." SunCom DOES allow access for the BlackBerry 8100.

I have contacted Technical Support at SunCom, but they haven't yet figured out the root of my problem either. Any suggestions? Please help!

Jennifer

theonlygurl, are you still dealing with this issue. If so, see this thread:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...tml#post643885

Also, as you bought your 8100 used, it may have an IT policy installed on it. On you 8100, check options > security option > general settings, and look in the "services" in the bottom section of the screen. If it doesn't read no services, then likely there is an IT policy. If so, see

Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ

Hope this helps. If not, this will at least bump your question to the top.

I think it's time to make that a FAQ.

The link above will take you to where I answered this yesterday. I wish RIM would block the download for that version for all 4.2 devices. The downloadable version of BBmessneger is only for 4.1 OS devices. Please remove that version and reinstall using Desktop Manager and the OS installation for the Pearl. The instructions are in the link above.

I'll get working on a faq for this.
