Starting today, whenever I connect by BB 7280's USB cable, or if I try running the Application Loader afterwards, I get the following:

Handheld Application Loader Wizard has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

In the first case (just hooking it up), there's no window that is up beforehand, and in the latter case, the software does check the BB's handheld and Java software configurations before the crash occurs.

I'm using the 4.0 SP1 desktop software, and the latest Cingular OS software (185) on my 7280.

I can sync and backup the BB, and a reinstall of the desktop software didn't help. Everything else on my PC is running fine.

Any suggestions?

Maybe a problem with the first transaction with the device. Try removing vendor.xml and see if that clears it up? Otherwise a re-install might be needed.

It seams that you know a lot about those issues, I have a similar one, when the Loader Wizard starts it hangs forever.

Because of it I cannot install the handset upgrade software, is it always going to be so hard? I'm about to give up...
