Default IM and Address book - 08-18-2007, 07:31 PM

So I finally found a nice stable server for my Gtalk transports and am very happy with IMing on my blackberry. This, however, got me thinking, since both the Gtalk software and the Address book are produced by Rim, is there a way to integrate them? It would be really nice to open my address book and just be able to see who is on line and IM them if i need to. That would really help my communication work flow, especially since Gtalk logs all your convos online and places all open convos into the unified inbox.

That would be nice. Probably not available to do yet as someone somewhere would have posted information. Possibly a future feature.

Actually there is some integration. So if you add a Gtalk handle to an email address field of a contact in your address book, it will let you IM from your address book, it wall also let you email/call/SMS/etc from your Gtalk client. It just does not show you their status. Sometime tells me that if i had the Rim Aim/Yahoo/MSN client there would be a similar way to it with just a field called AIM/Yahoo/MSN. Now if someone could just get those darned Service books working for Aim... life would be perfect. it really fells like a bit of a hack calling an aim handles an email addresses. oh well.
