I support some BB users with BB7290's through Cingular. They use desktop manager to synchronize their contacts with an Act! 2000 database, but contacts with more than one e-mail address in Act! only get one address on the BB.

Their BB OS is v3.8. Is this resolved with the v4.0 OS (which I can fix), or is it a problem with Act! synchronization (which I can't)?

I use companion link to synch with ACT and find that it only synchs the primary email address. In setup, you can change one of the fields to give you another email address field, but it will still give you only the primary address.

why companion link and not intellisync or hhc?

I'm not familiar with HHC but I understand that "Handheld Contact consists of two software programs, one for your BlackBerry ("HHC BlackBerry Software") and the other for your desktop/laptop with ACT! installed ("HHC Plug-In")."

Companionlink works with Intellicync and only requires loading one software program for your desktop.

thanks for the info. Once ACT is on the BB, can you mine the database just as you were sitting at your desktop? Also, how many contacts will the BB hold? one more thing, any opinion about Doublebook? Thanks again.

It's difficult to mine the database on Blackberry the way you would on your desktop, because you will only have 4 custom fields and will not be able to set up searches in the same way. I'm not sure how many ACT contacts the bb will hold. Mine only has about 1200 on it so far, but I only sync the ones that I am currently working with.
