Default Send business card (contact data) by SMS - 05-27-2005, 03:06 AM

I was using the feature in the title with my previous cellphone. Any idea how I can do the same (BB7290)?
Thanks and regards

I too have looked high and low for this. Most Nokia and Ericsson phones have this as a built-in app (I believe.) I read somewhere in this forum that due to some feature in 4.0, you could run Nokia apps on a BB. This is extremely useful when I interact with some colleagues in India, where SMS business card exchanges are a way of life. Any help will be gratefully received.

The easiest way to do this would to create an AUTO TEXT (I use mysig) entry with your desired contact info. Then just type in that word followed by a <space> and your contact info is inserted.
Hope this helps.

rcbjr, thanks for the response. I was referring to a feature whereby you can send a business card "attachment" as an sms, and the receiving phone can actually "receive" it into the sim phone book or address book, whereby it becomes part of your phone's contacts. Very similar to the "Insert Address" in the Blackberry, only it can be sent to any phone equipped with the receiving capability.

I am not sure, but I don't think that. Blackberry supports the vCard format, which is what it sounds like you want to send.

Has anyone been able to find definitive answer on how to send Business Cards via SMS on the BB? Typically seen as a standard feature on most other phones...

Thanks
Pieter
