Default How to report bugs in RIM software (like the Desktop Manager) - 08-25-2007, 07:35 PM

Hi,

At times I discover bugs in RIM's software. Right now I a struggling with a bug in the new Yahoo!/Blackberry sync included in the latest version of the Desktop Manager. Yahoo! has been very helpful, and we're now certain the bug is in the Desktop Manager, not with Yahoo! Then the question is: How do I contact RIM about bugs in their software? I tried an address I found on the RIM site but got told (in an auto-reply) that I need to contact my carrier which is not the response I need. Most software I use has some form of bug reporting mechanism or channel where you can get in contact with the authors, but I can not find a way to get in touch with RIM regarding bugs.

I work for a company which, among other things, makes a mobile browser (Opera Mini) and we have several ways our users can contact us with bugs and problems they have. I'm sure RIM must have something also. However, I am not able to find it.

You could try [email address]. I have used that for other general inquiries. Maybe they could reply back and tell you the proper channel to contact.

Thanks. I have tried that address twice. I only get an auto reply back saying:

"We have determined that you purchased your BlackBerry product through one of our carrier partners. Your service provider fields general queries and provides technical support for all BlackBerry smartphone-related issues and can act as your first point of contact in these matters."

Are they complete morons? I am simply trying to report a bug in the software. Doesn't RIM want input from users? I have worked for many software companies. There's always a way to keep track of bugs. I'm sure RIM has it to. I just can't find it. Sigh.
