Default New handheld. Do I need new desktop software? - 05-28-2005, 09:53 PM

I had a TMO 7230 with the latest Desktop Manager software on my computer. I used that to restore all the data, settings, profiles, bookmarks, etc. into my new Verizon 7250 today.

Question: Now that I've done the above, should I uninstall the current Desktop Manager software for the 7230, delete the XML file, etc., then install the current Desktop Manager software for the 7250? Is it really necessary? If so, why, or why not?

Not necessary. You can use the same Desktop install, but make sure you're already using BlackBerry Desktop 4.0 ... Just install on top of your existing BlackBerry Desktop.

Thanks,

Hi Mark!
Thanks for the answer! I was running Desktop Manager version 4.0.0.30, which was the latest from TMO. So far, everything has worked absolutely flawlessly with introducing my new 7250 to the setup, so I think I'll take your advice and leave things as they are on the computer.

Thank you, exalted Blackberry Wizard!

I'm not the BlackBerry wizard. RIM is the BlackBerry wizard. I'm just a volunteer apprentice

Thanks,

The latest update to the desktop software is service pack 1.

But it is not necessary to upgrade if everything is running fine.
