Default Gartner turns bearish on RIM - 12-06-2005, 08:46 AM

I see that following last week's rulings, Gartner is now recommending that their clients "stop or delay all mission-critical BlackBerry deployments and investments in the platform until RIM's legal position is clarified" and "consider alternative solutions for mission-critical applications".

For a long time now, Gartner has been urging their customers to sit tight and ride it out. This isn't a good sign.

I met with Ken Dulaney (co-author of the article) in mid-October and at that time he felt there was no risk. My, how opinions can change.. I still believe there is no chance that BlackBerry service in the US will be shut down.

RIM is gearing up for a fight--this news is frightening some analysts...
I think its the right thing for RIM to do.
