Thanks for the heads up on this.

I just got my first blackberry and had no idea where to start. Thank goodness for this site.

I called in to Verizon and the rep i talked to also had no idea what I was referring to. I mentioned that I had been on this forum and there was a lengthy conversation going on about this deal. She couldn't find it with the other options for BB, suggested it may be a business customer offer. I told her that had come up on the forum, and that is not the case. Then she asked her supervisor. Supervisor also had no idea. Then my Rep took a little more time and found it in what she described as a completely different place (on her computer)than the other programs. She was just as excited as me that she found it. We set it up and I am up and running. Bottom line is, with a little patience and politeness we ended up just fine. Of course you have to find a rep who is willing to dig a little.

Like I said I am new with my BB, if you can help me look for my other post in their respective categories coming soon. Lots of questions.

Thanks,

Josh

How is it you can set the plan back to the $15 tethering?

It is still available to add. The CS reps that state otherwise are simply unaware of where to find the proper feature code.

I know it is still available but the price book clearly states that the price for tethering depends on the data plan it is based on. It takes the 5gb "unlimited" plan to a truely unlimited plan. That's why it costs $30. That and they don't want anyone getting data cheaper than a broadband card. That's why it always adds up to $60.

If you would like to pay the $30 that is fine to do so, however myself and many others are using fully functional tethering for $15.

I'd be happy to pay only $15. Let me know what I need to do.

I tried asking about the $29.99 plan during a few different conversion with Verizon reps, but they stated only the $24.99(10MB) and $44.99(UNLIMITED) were available. Our family plan has two blackberry plans @$24.99 each right now and I'd like to switch over. Any advice?

Thanks

Rumor has it that ALL data plans at VZW (non-corporate email only) will be $30 before the end of Q1 08...

Interesting. I assume BB corporate vs. Personal access is controlled with BIS vs. BES. How would it be done for a Windows Mobile device? Would personal accounts not be allowed to access an Exchange server?

If it helps anyone who runs into the rep not being familiar with the feature, the feature code and description is: "73618 - EMAIL & WEB FOR BLACKBERRY($29.99)"

We contacted our rep today about this plan. After a few minutes of explaining what we wanted--it was done. Thanks to all on this forum!!

i just picked up the pearl and signed up for the 29.99 plan and received full discounts on the phone for signing up for data.

prior to this had the 8703e and had to use the 44.99. after that phone took a plunge i went to verizon store and was surprised to see this new plan. good move on there part.

VZW 8330 (Curve) - Current BB
VZW 8130 (Pearl) - Hidden in a box.
VZW 8703e - Went down the toilet.

I have the pearl - started with the $44.99 plan 4 months ago. Just called Verizon, gave them the code, and done. Worked like a charm.

I will be upgrading to a bb curve soon on vzw.

Are there any other differences in the 29.99 and 44.99 plans, besides that the 44.99 is for corporate BES access?

I will be using this phone for personal use. How much is tethering? I don't see it as an option when I'm going through the order flow on vzw.com. Is tethering included in either the 29.99 or 44.99 plans?

Thanks!
