Will The CDMA BlackBerry Curve Look Like The 8830? We Certainly Hope Not… | RIMarkable | The official, unofficial BlackBerry Weblog

Ok read the article above then look at this picture again. I am thinking this black device could be the CDMA curve we all thought was the 9000 series.

In the article is describes a similar look to the 8830 using the same style keyboard and just a touch shorter... hmmm

May the Blackberry be with you.

Be the first time that I'm aware of that RIM changed the housing between a GSM and CDMA release significantly. I personally like the new design, but that seems pretty far-fetched to me.

Doubtful. Why would CDMA carriers want another 88xx series BB to sell?

8330 will look exactly like the GSM curve, in a different color.

the verizon post is saying a week or two hes to hoping Sprint is on the band wagon. I am so shocked we haven't heard a rough date or pics from BG report. He is always on top of this stuff first for BB.

I saw that yesterday. I really hope Sprint beats out Verizon on the release date and atleast if they don't then we know it won't be long!

If that site wasn't so painful to navigate I could probably find it. Can't see what you're talking about at all.

I looked at the picture.....it is hard to tell, but it sure looks like it shows EDGE in the top corner.

Me thinks it's not a CDMA Curve.

But I've been wrong before.

Sprint Curve(8330) Coming Soon - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

for those who haven't seen.

I emailed Kevin from crackberry and he was promised some real pics soon. He looked at the pics and thinks it could be the real deal. Not sure on launch time he didn't know. It looks like in the top of the picture the same top screen battery life indicatior etc as the sprint pearl not red/blue like the ATT model I guess it could be a theme on there.

May the Blackberry be with you.

Really wish you could see that top right corner a little better. Can't make out the network information.

Looks exactly like the existing models. I guess we'll have to wait until the "real pics".

Titanium isn't bad if done right. At least this one has black keys. The Verizon models in silver have silver keys as well, and that looks horrible.

On the photos a few posts up, the device does have the Sprint Navigation logo. Not sure if you can load that on a non-Sprint device, so maybe there's some truth to this rumor afterall?

What are you talking about? I'm sure they all light up, its just you can only see the number ones due to the lighting when the picture was taken.

I am not sure who on here is a nextel user. But I am and I am ready for a new blackberry. When I was at the authorized sprint/nextel dealer in my town the otherday I was told that a hybrid blackberry will be out by Sept. that the voice is on sprint and the PTT is Iden like the sprint hybrid phones.

Has anyone else heard anything?

i walked in asking on a nextel bb a new one and they told me to hold off the purchase of the 7100 as they heard there was going to be a new nextel bb in a month. that was just a few weeks ago.

But they never say what month.
It's not happening. New Sprint; maybe. New Nextel - not even in the rumor mill....

No new Nextel BB coming. Sprint's getting the Curve (in April by the sounds of it) and there's supposedly a QChat device coming by the end of the year.

Wirelessly posted (8130 Sprint: BlackBerry8330/4.3.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

No PTT on the Curve.
Best thing is the 83.6 File Total mem.

Right. On your 8330. Which is obviously not the 8130 you are using.

Qchat PTT its going to be the same thing, a 2-way radio of some sort. If Sprint(nextel) comes out with a qchat curve it would be in my eyes an upgrade for all my friends on nextel I7100's that don't want to give up the bb or the nextel. Sprint has to see this all the people that don't want to switch but there is no option right now for them on the nextel side.

I can tell you that I work in Public Safety and Nextel is not going away. DC/PTT is very valuable in Public Safety for the agencies that use it or promote it to their staff.

I am quessing that if sprint comes out with that qchat it will be interchangable with Iden network.

Or at least I hope because I like my BB and would like a nextel BB because i use my DC/Ptt on a daily basis

the IDEN network will no longer be in Sprint's control by 2015 (just bumped back from 2010). The goventment will take over these frequencies at that time from Sprint in exchange for the bandwidth they were given on the CDMA side.

care to back that up any, or just going to say the word? this info was from a very good source in the Sprint company. Currently, Sprint's Time to vacate much of their iDEN network in certain cities where Nextel interferes with emergency services is this June or July (can never remember). If they do not comply (and the Appeals Court doesnt provide an injunction against the Government Shutting down iDEN in those areas) the iDEN network will be shut down in those areas. Of course, Sprint has had over 3 years now to move those customers, so who knows if the injunction would be granted. Also, in the last press release, Sprint only commited to iDEN until 2012. (though if it gets shut down i do not think they will have issues getting the customers to move away from that network)

I agree with you . Working as a firefighter I see people jumping ship off nextel every day. When I ask them why even tho they have ptt for quick on scene information the number one answer is " I can call just as quick for the price " and for the price of nextel with only 10 % discount for PS and 21% on sprint you can see why people are hoping ship. In my area our agencies don't require nextel just encourage it. I don't see how Sprint hasn't leveled the playing field with discounts yet even the bb BIS plan is 40 compared to the 30 of sprint , verizon, att . Its so frustrating and the diehard 7100 users refuse to give them up as they need ptt as an option so why not a curve with ptt or qchat to serve the Public safety sector. I just heard of a company in my area that had all 7100 with sprint and due lack of support on nextel they switched to att. You would think it would be in the best intrest of sprint to make both side look just as good and not try and force people onto the sprint side.

May the Blackberry be with you.
