Have any of you heard about the rumor going around that Google wants to purchase sprint?

Im just trying to get info on this I havent read anything definate just seeing it on other forums.

only thing that i can think of is all the google adds all over the phone.

Maybe, but I don't think they would do that. I think they would really stick to promoting their search service. Look at how Google Maps works, when you look something up it will then hit you with a couple of text ads when you look at the properties of the business you just looked up. Google has done a great job at trying to hide in the background. And have given us some great free software on virtually every existing platform.

I heard about this as well, but they people on the show all thought it was a bad idea. If google wants to get into being a carrier, they can do it without having to deal with buying Sprint.
I think it was just a rumor, a lot like that Google was going to come out with a Google branded cell phone. They have alot of cash on hand and rumors fly about them buying everything.

I dont see how it would be to google's advantage to run a carrier. What would that let them do that they cant do now? If anything it might reduce the market penetration of their apps. (as other carriers might not allow their apps as freely if they were a competitor)
