Hey everyone. I'm just wondering if anyone's heard of a new Facebook application, because the current one ... well, let's just say it works fine, but has limited capabilities! So I was wondering if anyone's heard of anything that might be coming out? Or even if it's in development.

I am sure they will continue to develop the app, but it will be a gradual process.

Well, it's popular because it keeps people in contact! You can see what everyone is up to, write messages directly to people all around the world. They have some pretty cool applications, like maps where you've been, write notes for everyone to see. It's basically it's a blackberry but for people who don't have blackberries, and who want to keep in touch. It's a really cool way for me, at least, to keep in touch with myfriends while I'm out of the country for the last few years.

Yeah, I check their website to download the app like every week, and I just quickly check the install version before installing and it's always 1.0.18.

Well I wouldn't mind picture viewing, and not having to be on my desktop to read notes! I wouldn't also mind being able to view my album from within the app, so I can sort them. Use with the largest apps already used within facebook. Its great how it is! But I'd just like some more functionality.

The difference is in the powerful networking aspect of these applications. When you sift through say, your old friends contacts, you find more of your old friends, and re-establish contact with people you otherwise would have a hard time connecting with, or wouldn't want to take the time trying to track them down. It's not for everyone, but I certainly love catching up with long lost friends, as do they.

I believe these type of social networking applications are the future of networking. No more wondering what ever happened to your first girlfriend, college roommates, etc. If you don't care about these types of people in your life, then the apps are not for you.

I totally disagree with that but won't get into and hijack the thread.

Every online site/app has its pros and cons and its fans and haters...I am half and half...but am beginning to see the power of these sites in terms of online marketing.

just my 2 cents

I have both accounts: MySpace and Facebook.

That said, I read an eye-opening article in the latest Wired magazine, which is posted on their website as well:

Q&A: Author Nicholas Carr on the Terrifying Future of Computing

Very interesting, indeed.
