Default Flip-phone - 01-30-2008, 12:39 PM

Has anyone heard anything about a flip phone from RIM?

Or a non-RIM flip-phone that is compatibale with RIM software?

I have broken several blackberry phones due to the open face. I just got several guys that work for me Razor phones and they are the same size as my Pearl. You would think with the popularity of the flip-phones, it would be a no brainer to come out with one.

And rumors out there?

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 8100: BlackBerry8100/4.2.1 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

I haven't heard anthing about a BlackBerry flip phone. I have a protective casing around my BlackBerry that protects the outer casing and the screen. I have the Pearl and some sort of screen protection is a must. Really it is a must for any BlackBerry phone or smart phone in my opinion.

Here is a good case. They can cost $80 to $100 but well worth it.

Look at the otterbox cases if you are worried about breaking the BB. OtterBox.com | Waterproof Cases for iPods, PDAs, SmartPhones and More!

SGH-T719 was a samsung flip phone with suretype and blackberry connect.

Sk-65 was a Seimens swivel phone with a full keyboard and blackberry connect.

Blackberry connect clients are also available for Windows Mobile, S60 Nokia phones and Palm.

defeats the durability selling point of the device. can you imagine how many people break their BB if it started being built like a flip phone?

if you havent noticed, the pearl's durability isnt that great. I know the 8700 and below were rock solid but the latest ones have gone down on the dropability scale.

that being said i would love to have a phone like the pearl in flip phone form...keep me from calling people in my pocket accidentally.
