Default The year for AT&T and the Berry - 02-06-2008, 01:51 PM

Looks like this may be the year for AT&T and the Berry, check out todays BoyGenuis report. The Berry just may be on the move with large sweeping improvements from AT&T in the 3G realm.

Well, well, well. Let me be the first to ask the question...

When will RIM release a 4G device?

A thin rumor: I was speaking on the phone to a customer service tech at AT&T the other day. He said a 3G Curve was coming VERY soon. He called it an "8311" (which doesn't sound legitimate). He was quite emphatic that one was due very soon, though.

Who knows?

You think to slow there. I'm looking at 5G devices. Ones that will read my mind, type for me and even yell at me to get out of bed for that meeting.. "Hey! Get your lazy arse out of bed!!"

Los

They are not referring to it with context to any model number. However, the first 3G device (and only 3G device this half of the year) will be the 9000. If it changes, then it has been something donned in the last few weeks and/or it's not in the scope of the 8000-9999 numbering scheme. I cannot see any evidence of a BlackBerry 8311.

maybe its a tactic used by customer service to keep customers? suggesting that the new, bigger, better is coming out "soon" so that customers would stick around and wait for its release? don't most subscriber based business use this type?

That would suggest customer service has the intelligence and capacity for strategy. In all of my experiences with AT&T customer service, that is not the case. More than likely, the rep who started this rumor wanted to feel important...
