Lightbulb UMA coming to Rogers... - 03-29-2008, 08:04 AM

I would guess UMA (indeed) is really coming to Rogers sooner.. there's already news of a router that's going to be released under Rogers like that of T-Mobile's (WRT54G-TM). Good luck to the Canadians!

Good Luck/Bon Chance, Indeed! We're going to need it with Rogers' pricing models. Well I'm praying that TMobile Canada will be a factual thing by Xmas this/next year after the May 20th Action for more spectrum and outside investment & business for the wireless services.

Looking for that perfect signature, hmm.

i can comfirm that UMA is coming to Rogers, but as of right now there is no rumor, or anything that the 8320 or 8820 will be coming to rogers... for now they are in the testing stage with a nokia phone...

"Charge"? That isn't the word for it! But I'll bet it'll be roughly the same and not have pure unlimited nationwide calling ... more like local calling or provincial. It would be nice if it was comparable to Tmobile's offering.

it would be quite strange to limit VOIP calls to a particular region. i suppose it can be done, but i havent seen anything like that.

- Rogers HomeZone will launch this month, (rogers standard time)
it will be compatible with ANY router, but End User Experience may vary by router.

- Rogers will also offer the same (re-labelled and updated) version of the TMO UMA router (optional, not compulsary)

- Rogers will offer the 6086 and the pearl 8120 for UMA launch with new WiFi berry's to also include UMA support.

*info posted is of currently available info. info may change at anytime without notice.

Hum, sounds interesting. I don't have anything with rogers but I would likely switch my personal BB to a rogers one if the feature set and price are similar to the Tmobile setup.

**EDIT** Also meant to ask do you think you'll need rogers home phone (their VOIP setup)? I've got Bell DSL and another (much cheaper) voip setup at home, I wouldn't want to have to get rogers home phone on top as I find its way too expensive.

you wont need RHP, but it will be beneficial because of the tier'd discount system they have.
