I don't think any CDMA 4.5 has been released officially from any carrier. (including 8130, 8330, 8830)

For the first time I feel the future might hold something different for me. It's possible I'm fooling myself but I'm willing to take the risk.

I saw a 4.5 release for the 8330 the other day. Nothing for the 8130 yet, though. :(

How many replacement devices how many upgrades are done in a given year on the BlackBerry? RIM is the number one PDA manufacturer worldwide and its not even close. Apple sits somewhere between third and fourth. RIM releases multiple devices per year. 8110/8120/8330/9000/9500/8900/8220 all will be out this year. Apple releases one phone per year. What exactly does RIM need to "quicken the pace"?

That's a good point. I think people also need to look at the audience who use these devices. There's a big difference between an iPhone user and a BlackBerry user. BB first and foremost came out for the business industry and they were very succesful at that.

One thing that Apple has done well is drumming up the hype. Yeah the iPhone is affordable for most everybody now than it was before, but remember what all the reviews and critics have told us to keep in mind. The price of the device is lower so more people can afford it, but the data plan is $10/month more. AT&T is not going to make money on the iPhone in sales volume. They'll make it up from the data plans they sell with the phones.

I can hear Don Adams..."Missed it by that much..."

The "P" in PDA stands for "personal" as there is no one right device for everyone.

My brand new retail 8320 was actually missing its battery, in the box, had to buy a new one, that one has now died, so I've already had 2 incidences with the battery so far and have only had the phone about 2 month's. I too think the Iphone should have a removable battery, and upgradable flash ram.

I agreed with you on #1 above, but I hardly think you could put it has the #1 reason the iphone wont sell as well as predicted. #2 is correct though, it needs to be brought over to other carriers.
