Have you had to deal with a 7100i lately? I doubt it... this phone is going to be waaaaaay better than alright!!! Probably not a Storm or a Bold, but for those of us still on the Nextel network, the Curve is agreat phone!

I agree for anyone that is upgrading there 7100 device or 7520 for that matter will be in for a treat. People say the curve form factor is old but to a nextel user this is going to be a day for celebration.

May the Blackberry be with you.

I have a 7520 user that will not use a 7100i, and has been waiting for this for a long time. He's a die-hard Direct Connect user. We don't deploy the 7520's anymore, so if I come across one that still works, I'll save it for him in case he has a problem with the one he's using.

I'm sure as soon as the 8350i is released I'll be placing an order just for him.

Finally couldn't wait anymore and jumped from Nextel. I hated the 7100i and wanted the Curve so I jumped to AT&T and got the Curve. Love it. Plus, the service is a 100 times better.

I'm using the 8830 and want something new and this device is the only thing sprint has for them and i wasn't to impressed because it's not real different from the 8830 I guess except the push to talk and wifi

I have talked to Nextel 2 times today... First I went into the store and picked out a Sprint Rumor for my daughter and while there the rep showed me a model of the BB 8350It's gonna be great and it's so much smaller than the 7100i. He said it would be out sometime in the next 2 weeks. He said after the discount you get if you've had service for 22 months it will cost between $150 and $200.

Then I had to call Sprint/Nextel to order my daughter's phone because i found out it was cheaper online. While talking to them I couldn't resist myself and I asked again. The guy on the phone told me that it comes out this coming Friday (10-31). I hope he is right because I'll be running right out and getting one! Either way it won't be long now! I am really looking forward to throwing this 7100i out a window or something!

I had the chance to speak with 3 representatives from RIM last week at a meeting. We were allowed to get our hands on one of these units for a few minutes. We were also told that it would be running device software version 4.6 which is great news for our company (still running all 7520s... highest software version 4.1)

It was mentioned in the meeting that Telus is looking at a release date in January 2009. However, I also received an e-mail today from a local Telus dealer that the release date is November 17th, but I'm not sure how concrete that information is.

Can't wait for this new BB!!!

Default New Blackberry from Nextel - 10-31-2008, 09:41 AM

last night i checked my mail and to my surprise I got a brochure from nextel advertising the new 8350i but there is still no release date yet. That means that this phone should be released very soon hopefully. I think my hope is up to high.

Whoever I talked to at Sprint/Nextel the other day was full of it because I called this morning and they still haven't released it! Good thing I was expecting to wait a while longer. I can't wait to get it!

Typo 12/01/09??? Maybe they meant 08?

Also I think I have asked this elsewhere but I'll ask again. Should I be able to use my Boost sim in this? I know I won't have the BB features but I just want it for phone and use opera mini. Plus a more updated phone will look cooler than my 7520.

Yes but no BB service since I don't believe Boost offers BB service.

Its the first iDEN BB - not first BB period.

There are plenty of iDEN users who are waiting for this.

I had a chance to play with one this week... our regional Sprint Manager told me 12.01.2008 release date. He also said the units have shipped and ARE in stock... we're close people, we're close!!!
Also, it IS OS 4.6... thats one of the first things I checked! Sooo cool.

All iden because Sprint wasn't sure if they were going to stay with Nextel (there was talk of spinning them off, but now I think they want them again because of the economy), and I think they had some trouble with qchat. I was told that qchat would be a software module that could potentially be ported to just about any phone that had the right radios and programability. You'll notice there are a bunch of phones that have a PTT button that currently doesn't do anything. I was hoping to see qchat show up on a few of the cooler HTC phones but now believe that it may never see the light of day.

At this point, I'm happy to take an iden BB as anything is better than my 7100i. I came very close to ditching nextel because of the outdated handsets.

Bring em on..

Don't you think that somewhere there would be an official post on the release date? I've asked so many Sprint people and have had so many different responses, I'm not going to speculate on a release date until I see it available. Today I was in a town near mine and stopped at their Sprint/Nextel store. The store manager told me that they were told last week that they will be available through telesales to business customers ONLY on Dec. 1. Others will not be able to buy it until they are in stores which he said will be well into January. I'm so frustrated with my 7250 that has 3 keys not working (Q, L and P), but I refuse to pay for a repair/replacement if it's even possible if this phone comes out soon. If it's going to be January, I'll get mine fixed.
Look at this thread even - October, November 1, November 14, etc...

I would return it if you have your heart set on the 8350i. I have been hearing, from very good sources, that it will not drop before December 1st.

Hopefully you didn't jump to a different service... if you stayed within the Sprint/Nextel walls, I would return whatever you recently bought and ask them for a loaner until the 8350i rolls out. If you've been with them for any amount of time, i would certainly think they'll do whatever to keep your business.
My source for the release date is an area manager for a number of states in the midwest (something above a store-level rep, anyway), and he is anxiously awaiting this phone too! The last e-mail I recieved from him said the units are actually in inventory, which I would think means, ready to sell! Dec. 1st sounds like the date...

Default Upgrade ? - 11-16-2008, 09:28 PM

thanks for the info guys one question though if sprint/nextel arent willing to give me a loaner the date the current phone has to be turned back is is the 30th. I can just turn it in for a couple day and when the BB comes out on the 1st I can use my upgrade then I would just be without a phone for 2 days. That is how the upgrades work correct?

Cool Pre Order for 8350i - 11-19-2008, 11:47 AM

After speaking with a representative from Vazcom about preordering my 8350i i became nervous and eery because I was told that I could give my check number or credit card number and I won't be charged until the order is placed on November 30th. And he also said that i won't get my phone until about two days later plus shipping and handling. Well, i don't know about anyone else but when i get excited about a new gadget i want mines the same day i pay for it less shipping and handling but i definitely don't want to be one of the ones without it because this 7100i can be thrown out the window at anytime.

Ughhhhh... is it really any wonder people have gotten so fed up with Sprint in recent years??? Has anyone else heard the latest? Just heard this morning, now we're loooking at 12.15 as release date for this phone.
I am just fine for another mo or two w/my AT&T curve (even tho their service sucks in my area...), but for everyone else trying to deal w/a 7100... gotta be dyin!
FYI only, who knows what to really believe..

Yup... December 15th from premier. They said that issues prevented the 12/1 date from being realistic so it was pushed off another 2 weeks for 'breathing room' to solve issues uncovered from field testing.
Guess one needs to decide - Nextel or current technology... At Sprint, you can't have both!

Default Release date for 8350i - 11-21-2008, 03:22 PM

Well a representative from sprint contacted me today to make sure everything was going okay: i told her i was waiting on the release of this particular phone and she politely said that the phone will be out at the end of the month. The people at Vazcom also said the same thing after they tried to get me to pay my money to reserve a 8350i. So if the release date has change then these rep are not saying much.
