Too bad whoever posted the original didn't watermark it -- because it's been hijacked and posted on ever other BB web site known to mankind. Would be nice to see what the screen looks like and if it is significantly better than the present ones.

I downloaded the image the other day and tried to increase brightness/contrast. Still hard to see the screen image.

Default Ugly Duckling - 09-18-2005, 11:45 AM

My two cents worth on this "device".

This is one ugly duckling, and unfortunately I do not mean the one that grows up to be a beautiful swan. I know we do not buy these units for looks. Other than the 7100 series, BB’s have always had a very distinguished Business look. This to me reminds me of my nephew’s game boy. It looks cheap, like it will not stand a drop, unlike the survival stories you always hear about the 7200 series. It is a shame that somethig that people have looked so forward to for so long and with the suppossed enhancements it has that it winds uplooking like it does. I am hoping that these are made up Photoshop artists impressions or renditions of what they think or hope it will really look like, if I am wrong and they are real pictures, I hope and pray that my 7250 has a looooooooong life indeed because I do not see myself as changing or trading (down)to this even if I got it for free. I almost feel that the 8700 will be the 7750 of the series, a great idea, a step in the right direction, but if everyone is a bit smart, we should all take a wait and see attitude and see what happens. I am a firm believer that new and improved is not always better, maybe the 8750 will then have the bugs out and can be looked at a bit closer and with more enthusiasm.

I think that the bottom line is that if RIMM sees or has a need to either compete with the rest of the other phones out there, or believe that they need to tap or fulfill the needs of the less business oriented users out there, that they ought to then go with this and make it the flagship of a new division.

Sorry but for me it is thumbs down.

Well I've been disappointed on both sides of the coin. There's may times I see pictures and say 'wow... that is awesome' and 'wow... that looks cheap'. Then being impressed/disappointed when seeing/holding it in person. We just need to wait for the 'real deal' before making a final determination.

I've loved the looks and feel of my 7290 since I got it 10 months ago. I was dreading giving it up when this new unit came out. Now that I see what it looks like, my 7290 is looking better and better. All I can say is that it better outperform my 7290 by a longshot. Otherwise I'm sticking with the tried and true.

I'm waiting for $10, unlimited BB data service. Apparently we're waiting for or wanting different things. That device does nothing for me.
