Default Blackberry ELECTRON - 10-24-2005, 03:04 PM

I've seen a new device being used internally by RIM staff nicknamed "Electron". The resolution is spectacular, and the backlight automatically comes on in low light situations. not sure on any other new developments, since i only 'saw' it, and didn't try it yet.

edit:

well, i'm new to the lingo and didn't know that the 8700 series is already called Electron, therefore i'm not sure if this is news or not.

does the current 8700 have auto backlight?

Not news, check the 8700 forum for the latest on Electron/8700. All electron/8700 posts get moved there.

I haven't heard of auto-backlight but check with corey@12mile he's held one.

Hey! there is a new blackberry coming out? Cool... I wonder what it looks like... you say it's electric? I mean electron? 8700? I have a 6280... it rocks. There is no way an 8700 can be better than my 6280!

Wow a new BlackBerry! Can I add themes, is it unlocked, does it have EV-DO, can it play movies, will it have a camera or SD slot.

Hey... apparently it has 16 megs of ram *and* a 64meg flash module... maybe I can upgrade it to 4 gigs! think it's removable?

it's got a hidden camera... only works when it's in your pocket and you are playing pool.

***********************

On a more serious note... it does have auto backlight. 2 stage just like the 7290's have. It has a sensor built in under the screen that senses the light condition the berry is in and adjusts the backlighting accordingly... off, on or bright.

cd.
