| Besides we have what 2 actually 3G BB's at this point (Bold/Storm) it will be a while before we see a 4G BB..
Besides they have to do the Analog to Digital conversion first...

Besides they have to do the Analog to Digital conversion first... | No, we have a lot of 3G devices actually. The 9000, 9500, 9530, 8130, 8330, 8830, 7130, 7250, 8703, and 8707 are all 3G.
Also, all carriers have completed the transition to digital, and all analog networks have been turned off.

Most people don't think about EVDO being 3G.
I made a nifty little chart on another forum that should help people out. http://winmobileforum.com/showthread.php?t=667
Note: Sprint is the only major provider in the world not using LTE for 4G, so that is why LTE is the only system listed in 4G for CDMA carriers.

So the 4G LTE standard will they be the same thing on CDMA and GSM? (Ie. giving the ability to buy an ATT phone, unlocking it an using on VZW or will GSM/CDMA always be seperate?)

That's correct! LTE is the 4G standard (Sprint is not following standards), so as long as your LTE handset has the correct bands, you could SIM unlock it for use on any LTE network.

| There isn't a 4G and non 4G standard. WiMAX is actually more of a standard since it has an IEEE standard - 801.16e - something LTE is still working towards. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wimax
Also from Wikipedia:
"While 3GPP Release 8 has yet to be ratified as a standard, much of the standard will be oriented around upgrading UMTS to 4G mobile communications technology, and an all-IP flat architecture system." 3GPP Long Term Evolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Quote:
