Default When is the new 3G Pearl coming out? - 05-15-2009, 08:05 PM

I wonder if the new Pearl have more memory, new OS, better camera, etc?

I was all set on getting an 8900 when AT&T rolls it out, but now I hear about a new Pearl. Rumor I heard is that it will be available in 6 months or less. Hmmm...

Any credibility to the rumor (I hope it's not from a telephone rep)...

No, not from a telephone rep. From someone who has some inside connections. Take the rumor for what it's worth

This is what I "heard..."

New Pearl: $99, 3MP camera, 3G, 3mm wider, 1mm taller, 1mm thinner, 128MB memory, various colors.

Wirelessly posted (My Bold)

I have never even herd rumors of a new pearl. Hmm

There's no way at all you will see a 3G pearl before a 3G curve, the pearl is more for people who want blackberry support in a normal phone form factor and isn't going to tend to be a high-end product for rim.

These claims of inside connections are pretty funny too, you would think that anyone who did actually work for rim would be NDA'ed up to their eyeballs and would be careful about what they said in case it lost them their job.

Yea this was mentioned in the '09-'10 line up (I posted it a while back) and re-furb pearl with 3G.. Haven't heard anything since

It may even sport the optical trackball!

For the first time I feel the future might hold something different for me. It's possible I'm fooling myself but I'm willing to take the risk.

I don't want a flip. I want a candybar.

That's excellent, but you said "Pearl", and the 8230 is a Pearl.

If you're willing to switch to a CDMA carrier (Verizon/Alltel, US Cellular, Sprint), their Pearls are 3G.
