So, I was talking with a friend of mine and he was just looking at my 8900 and just checking it out. Then he mentioned about the new update which is still in Beta and selected for only some people. The layout is like the new msn messenger . It features a display picture for every contact and every contact has a different picture of their desire. Its pretty cool but I don't know how they're going to put it intoi the devices but I'm guessing by a normal O.S update .

OS updates are normally placed on RIM website, so once the 5.0 comes out of beta, then the community will be informed and people will start to download and install it.

It would be nice if RIM.. decides to update their other apps... BBM, BBMaps..

I'd like to see an estimated time of travel/total miles when I do "get directions"

And that's only because I needed that function today

---

But yes we will probably see more beta's for 5.0 pretty soon.. well before the official release I might add.. the 8830 only 4.5 about 2 months ago.

Personally I'd like them to leave BBM as is rather than making it bloated with extra things

Never thought about it that way... I do suppose BBM serves it's purpose quite nicely, and quick IM app.

Good point. Knowing RIM though they will probably give us the option to hide pictures and so forth, similar to their Enterprise Messenger apps. But that's just an assumption.

The BBM in the 8900 5.0 is a step backwards in my opinion. The fact that it always shows the first line of an exchange is annoying.

I hope this is not the future of BBM.

I could see BBM resembling some of our twitter clients. The technology is there
