Default OS 5 Question - 08-22-2009, 01:02 PM

Hey guys,

I think this might be the wrong thread.

I have upgraded my OS about 4 times, from standard orange uk os to what i am currently on.

Question is i have noticed nothing different in terms of software settings or new buttons, or new features that make me go wow.

I have noticed better battery life, which is a background feature.

So with everyone getting worked up and excited about the OS5 will there be massive visual changes, will we all notice massive differences, like different settings and fonts and all this and that blah blah..

I just saw a few videos on the new OS 5.0. Will be available for the 8520?

8520 is a brand new device, so yes.

Is it worth the update though?
I heard Facebook and Windows Live Messenger are not compatible with it yet.

No they aren't compatible yet, but as the OS 5 that is currently out is a BETA; its not expected that they would work.

They may work once OS 5 is officially released.

There's no may work, those are apps rim release so they are bound to update them to versions that work with 5.0 or more likely they have already done so, but haven't released them since officially 5.0 isn't available for anyone.

I meant that the versions of facebook (for example) that are out now may work with OS 5 once released, and its the fact the betas might not have the programming to let them work.

Unless it is just a bug (becomes less likely with each beta people try) then the things that are currently missing from 5.0 would tend to be older versions of the api's that those apps need and thats not something that would tend to get added since that would be needless bloating of the new OS.
