Looks like the old Pearl 81xx but with the trackpad instead of the trackball. 3G is a welcome addition though.

I like it. I loved my 8100 that I got in 2006. I loved Suretype and the size. If they could make a high res screen and trackpad that would be a hit, especially with people who didn't browse much (smaller screen).

My thoughts are that it would eventually get released to all carriers like the original pearl did, but I don't really have any source to prove that. It's just kinda what I think. Also, don't think it will get released until probably some time next year.

The red spray paint was a refreshing added bonus.

I would call Photoshop on the Red Spray Paint, but I think this is more old school. A la MS Paint.

Phone looks cool. I'm excited about the addition of the trackpad.

With Bell and Telus, the two CDMA carriers in Canada rolling out their nation wide HSPA network overlay in November (apparently Bell already has a roming deal with ATT), it will leave only only a few US cariers with CDMA only networks. I wonder how much development dollars will go for new CDMA/EVDO devices?

Stunning looking SureType phone - definately gets my vote over the Pearl Flip!

Would be interesting to see what the specs are (i.e. CPU, RAM, Camera etc)

If this had the CPU & RAM of the Curve 8900/8520 and Camera of the Storm then RIM would have a serious hot cake seller on there hands!

Had: 8700g, 9000, 8220, 9500, 8110
Have: 8520 Curve

In that order! Missing 3G

If verizon keeps up their order levels then you will still see plenty of cdma devices, simple as that, the likes of bell and telus will have had negligble impact on such devlopment.

You realize the 8900 has the same camera as the storm right? LOL

Wow, I really dig it. Is it going to have a high res screen and latest OS?

I used a Pearl for about 2 1/2 years up until I got an 8900 in April and then got an iPhone 3GS. I really the SureTupe keyboard. I still can't get used to a full QWERTY keyboard. The Pearl is nice, but you give up screen real estate. That is the only negative thing in my opinion.

I've had my Pearl for almost two years now and I absolutely love it. SureType is the best! It's so easy to type without looking.

I am planning on upgrading to the 9700 once it's released next month, but to be quite honest, I'm really hating that I'll have to give up SureType.

I know what you mean. I had a tough time with the full QWERTY keyboard on the 8900 for the short period of time that I had it. I make tons of mistakes on portrait mode on the iPhone, but lanscape mode is a piece of cake. I am looking at getting back into the BB game with the 9700. Can't hurt to give it a shot. As I said in my previous post, if a new Pearl is coming with all the goodies, I may be all over it.

Now that's a hot device. If I didn't have lot of browsing to do, this would have been the perfect choice for me. Browsing requires a bigger screen. Wish my Tour had a screen like Bold's

The tour has the same size screen and its actually a higher resolution than the one on the Bold.
