Post BB to compete with Apple and Android?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know if BB will come out with an android-based phone? The only reason I ask is that the BB OS is getting dated when compared with Apple's iOS and the Android OS. I personally like my BB, but would really like to see something based on Android or any other open source OS for that matter. With BB's market share falling as of late to the iPhone and the Android Markets, I know several companies that currently are using BB's business services that are holding off on any upgrades to their handhelds and BB business appliances at this time to see what happens in the overall marketplace. Due to the favored iPhone and Android phones used by their employees that are already being used securely on their network(s) (over wireless, etc.), several of my clients are hesitant about investing more money into the BB platform at this time and are considering using other services (iPhone and Android for example). This is not a slam against BB or anyone else. I'm just trying to see if anyone knows what direction BB is heading in so I can give my clients an informed answer as opposed to "I really don't know right now". Any thoughts?

Thank you!

No. You will never see a BlackBerry released with Android OS. That is absurd. The BB OS is great at what it does. Having used both the Android OS and the BB OS, there are things that the BB OS does better than Android and vice versa.

You can't make everyone happy. The Android OS isn't for everyone, the iOS isn't for everyone, Windows Mobile isn't for everyone, The BB OS isn't for everyone, WebOS isn't for everyone, well you get the point. That's the great thing about this market, competition and choice. Each OS is pushing the others to stay competitive and innovative.

Which isn't very much. Can't wait to be disappointed by OS6.
