Default Is this the new Blackberry 7100t?? - 09-03-2004, 07:31 AM

http://store.bizshopr.com/7100t.html

There are not many references online about this model...

On "the other board" the 7100 was referred to as "Charm", so either this is the wrong photo and all the old accessories will work on it, or the 7100t is a 7230 form factor with bluetooth and speakerphone...

Wrong pic but correct name at least TMo is stating the "7100t" is slated for fall 04 release.

The photos I saw of "Charm" had a rounded bottom, not the flattish kind on the 72XX, so how would it fit in these accessories???

Since they don't have the right pic for the blackberry itself, its not unreasonable to assume that they have also used placeholders for some of the other accessories. Regardless of the shape, there will still be batteries, chargers etc. to sell and assuming they haven't gone for a custom usb port then a fair few bits of 72xx accessories will still work.

There are a number of sites out there advertising accessories for a list of blackberry devices -- and they include a 7100t in the mix of devices. Interesting that this is the only reference to this model number that I've come accross. But someone must be giving resellers a heads-up on the release.

I went in with a friend to buy a new AT&T cell phone yesterday. The sales rep heard us discussing the new Blackberry's and told us that he had been at a meeting with a RIM rep the other day, and they were told that RIM has scratched the idea of putting Bluetooth in any of their Blackberry devices. When we asked about the Charm, he said, oh, well, that's not really a Blackberry...

Interesting stuff...

I think that sales rep needs to know what hes talking about before speaking up next time since its on the charm and the 7290.

Default Charm - 7100T - 09-05-2004, 09:24 AM

We had one in the other day... Nice device, would have to use it for awhile to get used to the typing / word anticipation function. This is most certainly a device for those who value phone use over email. I can see it possibly doing well in the prosumer/consumer market. T-Mobile and us VAR's will be the first to have it sometime in October.

Kirson, AT&T won't know anything about it because it is exclusively for T-Mobile. No other carrier will have the 7100T or Charm, if you like.

Should only be a matter of time before the bulk of the carriers are aboard with the 7100 "Charm" for now it looks like someone at TMo is in bed with the right person... :D

With the mention of a vodafone charm in the other thread, it simply looks like they have gone for their top selling gsm carriers in north america and europe to launch the device. Personally, I'd expect the rest of the carriers will be launching just too late to get it in the shops before xmas.

I saw a post on another forum, from someone who presumably works for T-Mobile, claiming that T-Mobile will launch the Charm on September 8. That's tomorrow. This is going to be interesting.

Default Getting Closer ! - 09-08-2004, 05:20 AM

It looks like it will only be a matter of time now.

I hope they are telling the truth about the browser. They say;
"Plus surf the web the way it was meant to be with an ultra-large high resolution color screen." I was lead to believe it was possible on the 7730 but they crippled that so it would only do WAP. Surfing the web is not WAP and I hope they are not being misleading again. I spent a lot of time going back and forth being told I could/could not without BES.
