at best, that is just pure guess-work speculation that holds ZERO merit. and i quote:
The BlackBerry camera phone won't be called the BlackBerry 8100, though. A snazzier selection of digits just has to do. How about 8180? The "8" - which connotes advancement - is highlighted.
no offense to the BBHub guys, as they are top notch on just about everything else ... this just happens to be an article completely fictionalized and speculated from someone's own mind and wishful thinking. that's not to say that a multimedia handheld won't be just around the corner out of R&D, but the logic behind their conclusions leaves a lot to be desired in the research and writing. the only part of the article that had any sort of actual research in it was the quotes from Jim or Mike concerning the future of the RIM handheld (which was quoted from a widely reported article two months ago).
i'll make my own speculative guess and say that they skip the 81xx modeling all together for the next line of reduced-shape handhelds (the 7130 is the second generation 71xx family, with the 7130e already out and the 7130g and 7130u coming out shortly), and keeping up with the Jones's dictates they may simply go straight into the 9xxx series. but that's about as good of speculation and literal guess-work as the base of that article.
